We recently returned from a trip to Montana visiting various places in Glacier National Park and Whitefish Resort as well as a little time in Couer d’Alene, Idaho.

Up near the Canadian border and at high altitudes, it was quite a bit colder than I expected. We also need to buy bear spray, which I had never heard of. It was a necessity up there. As a matter of fact, in Glacier, we hiked to Avalanche Lake, which was closed the following day because six grizzly bears were getting too close to people. I had mentioned to my wife that with well over 1 million acres and only 500 total black and grizzly bears, it’s highly unlikely will run into any bears. Well we saw two grizzlies and two black bears! I was wrong once again.

Almost a 1/2 mile so it takes a while for me to come into view.

Lots of waterfalls and beautiful country up north and the cost of property to someone from California is to die for. At Whitefish we went white water rafting and zip lining in the same day.

Two things were disappointing on the trip. The road to the sun through Glacier National Park was closed because of a long stretch of snow that was more than 70 feet deep. The scenery is supposedly spectacular from the road. There also aren’t very many glaciers left. One of the reasons we went is that the prediction is there will be no more glaciers sometime between 2020 and 2030. You might want to take a trip up there before then too.
